    Halloween Crazy!

Thursday, October 25, 2007, 09:22 PM EST [General]

I get a little decoration crazy at Halloween. Here's a little bit of the mayhem...

    Top of the Fridge...

    Kitchen Window over sink

Top of the Front Kitchen Window

    Fountain in Living Room

    Horned God

    Iree

These are all thumbnails - click and you can see the bigger image. There are a few more in my Halloween album. My camera phone seems to be slightly misbehaving so the quality is lacking, but oh well!

On another note, my Grandma is doing MUCH better. She is conscious and stable but on a respirator. Hopefully she keeps improving and can be out of the hospital in a little while. Happy thoughts!!!

    October, the departed, and spirits...

Monday, October 22, 2007, 02:32 PM EST [General]

I just returned from northern lower Michigan where the fall foliage is stunning. However, I learned upon my return that my last remaining grandmother is in the hospital and the prognosis isn't particularly good. She's had issues with her blood pressure being high for a while now and she's not always good about taking her medicine. And she sits at the kitchen table and chain smokes all day, not good either. Not much for exercise, not a great eater. She had a little mini doxie for a companion up until about 2 weeks ago when he passed away. My mom went to see her on Sunday and found her in very bad shape. Her neighbors had called mom when she was on her way there and said they couldn't get her to answer the door so they let themselves in and found her very disoriented and weak. Mom got her to the hospital where she's been diagnosed with pneumonia and emphysema (which apparently she's had for a long time - undiagnosed). She is in critical but stable condition. But we don't really know how she will be because the carbon dioxide in her blood was so high they were surprised she was still alive -so what did that do to her brain?

Anyhow, seems that October is the time for humans and animals to just shut down before the long cold winter. All the plants prepare, why not us? I lost my dad in October, one boyfriend, and several other people and pets in October (coincidentally my divorce was finalized in October too). So each Samhain is very relevant for me. October is still one of my very favorite months, and I think perhaps it is because of the balance of life and death being so very apparent at this time. I really feel alive in October, and I have a greater appreciation for all who have passed before me.

Not sure which way to pray for my grandma, whether it be life or death - just I suppose for the most kind resolution that can be had for her. Love to all of you and yours out there during this beautiful season of change.

    Cemetery Surprise!

Thursday, October 11, 2007, 01:49 PM EST [General]

Ok, this might seem a bit cruel but I thought it was hilarious! I was walking in the cemetery with my partner the other night (we walk every night - it is a connection ritual for us) when I noticed a car driving around. My partner and I get a bit territorial about the cemetery at night (supposed to be *OUR* space, don't cha know?) so he said he should hide behind a tree and just jump out at them. I told him he was already wearing white so just stand on the side of the path with me. The car crested a small hill and when they caught us in their headlights they did a quick jerk of the wheel. We must've scared the daylights out of them! Can you imagine - driving around at night and seeing something in your headlights is disconcerting enough - they did it in the CEMETERY!!! We laughed so hard the rest of our walk, and just kept giggling every time we thought of it. I'm the kind that if that happened to me I would find it funny, so I don't think it's too bad. I've put up a picture of one of my favorite markers from the cemetery - I think she's beautiful.

    HURRAY IT'S FALL!!!

Thursday, October 4, 2007, 01:01 PM EST [General]

And what a beautiful fall day it is here in Michigan!  The temperature is currently 71 degrees, the sun is shining, the birds are singing, the leaves are gently falling, who could ask for more?  I've begun my Halloween decorating, adding bits and pieces to my fall decor.  On a slightly creepy and odd note, when walking through the Marble Orchard last night (cemetery) I saw some old floral grave decorations tossed in the garbage.  So I fetched them out and took them home and painted them black last night.  I put a cemetery in my own front yard every year and thought these would add the perfect gruesome touch!

On another note, I initially joined Covenspace back in August when my guy did a Very Bad Thing and I was looking for more friendship and something to occupy my mind.  Well, I have truly received more friendship than I could have ever anticipated!  And through the balancing of my mind, I have been able to work some issues out with my guy.  I believe our relationship is finally on the road to recovery after so many years of dysfunction.

So I shall continue on with my merry day here, and hope to update my space with some fall foliage soon!  Blessings to you all, my friends!
